Job Designation

The Inventory Analyst uses expertise and knowledge to support a wide range of inventory control activities to ensure the accountability of inventory management through effective process controls.      

Job Core Responsibilities
  • Ensures a correct statement of inventory, on an on-going basis, by monitoring the internal cycle counting processes
  • Coordinates the control of inventory by administering the program for scrapping slow-moving and obsolete materials
  • Works with Suppliers in management of consigned inventories, vendor managed inventories and materials stored at Supplier's location
  • Works with Procurement to maintain optimal inventory levels for direct materials
  • Manages the inventory positions of products and coordinates with areas necessary to ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained
  • Coordinates the efficient movement of materials with purchasing & production
  • Identifies roadblocks and inefficiencies in business processes and make improvements to ensure requirements are met efficiently
  • Works with planners to understand root causes for excess inventory and devised appropriate countermeasures
  • Places purchase orders for the supply of products and plan materials that are required to meet demand requirements using professional judgment.  Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
Job Specifications

Education Post-secondary degree or the equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Certifications Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in a related field
Years Experience 2 - 5 years of relevant experience
Skills  

  • Knowledge in areas related to inventory control and analysis and uses expertise to solve problems from a systematic and analytical approach
  • Exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Good interpersonal and  communication skills (written and verbal), with ability to drive tasks to completion
  • Good working within ERP and MRP Systems
  • Strong computer skills and attention to detail
