Job Designation

The Health Safety and Environment Coordinator provides a range of administrative support to Health, Safety and Environment activities. Assists the team with coordinating and maintaining effective safety programs and environmental management system. Participates in audits, documentation and training activities. 

Job Core Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities 
•    Provides support for the Health, Safety and Environment Team to ensure a safe working environment in compliance with government regulations and company procedures
•    Actively participates in training documentation for lock out / tag out procedures, forklift operations, hazardous material handling and other areas of high risk exposure
•    Schedules and prepares various internal and external Health, Safety and Environment meetings
•    Participates in safety training presentations and trainings of a routine nature
•    Participates with other business units to implement the Health, Safety and Environment programs, policies and services
•    Provides support to the recycling programs, and emergency response management and hazardous waste removal
•    Maintains and updates Material Safety Data Sheets; ensuring most current data is available
•    Assists with development of written safety procedures that are in alignment with regulatory guidelines
•    Participates in the appropriate corrective actions where health and safety hazards exist
•    Actively participates in the collection, record keeping, disposition and handling of waste 

Job Specifications

Minimum Qualifications: The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

Education Level:

(Required): High School Diploma or GED or the equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
(Preferred): Associate's Degree  or or the equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations                     

Field of Study/Area of Experience:

2 + years relevant experience in a manufacturing setting with Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities List

  • Knowledge and experience of Health, Safety and Environment regulations, and the ability to coordinate activities for a team
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize with changing situations
  • Ability to recognize and solve typical problems and select solutions from established options
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
  • General knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
