Purpose:
Meggitt’s new Ansty Park is the most significant infrastructure investment Meggitt have ever made. The 490k ft2 facility will be the place of work for up to 1000 people, and will be Meggitt’s Centre of Gravity in the UK, encompassing the Global Corporate HQ, Aircraft Braking operations currently located in Coventry, Thermal Management operations currently located in Birmingham, and the EMEA hub for Meggitt’s Services and Support organisation (MRO and Spares distribution). The site will be Meggitt’s blueprint for the future, and by bringing world-class innovation and operational performance together will accelerate Meggitt’s ability to meet the current and future needs of customers worldwide

The Head of Quality position will lead the Quality manufacturing organisation within Ansty Park, being responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining Meggitt’s Quality system and function compliant with design, manufacturing, aftermarket activities including supply chain and compliance to customer requirement. The role will provide clear leadership and coaching abilities collaborating with the site Leadership Council (SLC) and business stakeholders to create, develop and deploy the business Quality strategy for the site. 
With the site operational from Q4 2019, they will also lead the transition of the Quality organisation to the new site.

The Head of Quality provides direction for all quality strategy for the site, sits as a member of the site leadership council; Provides leadership for the quality function; Demonstrates accountability for functional, business and borad company objectives; Integrates and develops processes that meet business needs across the organization. Establish short to long-term strategies for internal & external quality performance.

 

 

 

The position holds independent responsibility for ensuring that the company maintains continued compliance to the appropriate regulatory (EASA Pt 21 & 145 etc), business standards (AS9100 / AS 9110, etc), all customer and internal Meggitt PLC requirements by leading the business in maintaining and improving the quality systems adopted by the site.

The position has full authority over all product quality from the supply chain thorugh to the delivered parts at the customer base. The role will ensure that a programme of product conformance is implemented, executed and improvements reported and realized.

Leadership

Leadership in the development of product assurance, quality, and business continuity activities

Leadership in managing the quality team in its entirety, with coaching & mentoring for team members

Lead initiatives that improve product & processes throughout the business

Provision of general direction and advice to the Company on matters relating to product assurance and quality

Demonstrates leadership behaviours in line with Meggitt High Performance Culture

 

Strategy

Development and implementation of short, medium and long term objectives with respect to product assurance and quality.

Identify and drive Leading indicators to be deployed within the function and in support of other functions as appropriate

 

Customer

Provides leadership to the team on robust customer management

Provides to the external customers an interface that robustly supports customer needs

 

 

Function

Responsible for managing key site metrics, & reporting them to the site & Division seniors.

Management of all quality escalation to the Division quality leadership

Leads daily DLA with functional team members

 

Supply Chain

Providing direction to the supply chain on all quality related matters

 

Management system

Provides leadership & direction for all quality interaction with customers, suppliers and statutory/regulatory authorities.

Development and implementation of appropriate policies, procedures and systems for product assurance and quality

Analysis and reporting the performance of the product assurance and quality systems including Management Review meetings

 

 

 

Key skills and competencies required:
•    Clear and demonstrated Leadership abilities including coaching and people development.
•    Significant management experience of multi-discipline teams, with the ability to coach and mentor others.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work in multi-functional teams including suppliers, to tight deadlines often under pressure.
•    Good understanding of Manufacturing / Engineering Processes.
•    Clear and demonstrated understanding of Airworthiness and Regulatory approvals and processes.
•    Preferred formal continuous improvement qualification (green or black belt) with demonstrated knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP, APQP, and 8D
•    Able to apply regulatory and compliance requirements pragmatically into the site
•    Positive collaboration with and support for other functions including Group. 
•    Self-motivation is essential as is the ability to plan and prioritise.
