Internship in Production Engineering

Meggitt Fribourg’s site provides its expertise to four strategic business units and employs 450 employees. We develops, manufactures and sells world-wide a complete range of transducers and electronic systems for the monitoring of engines, turbines and other rotating machinery in both the aerospace and energy industries.

The Position

To further strengthen our Production Engineering department, we are currently offering an internship (6 months) in Production Support & optimization.

The internship will be based on two different projects.
First project: Improve the engraving machine performance by increasing the number of parts engrave in the same time. 
•    Identify runners (Top 10) and the marking strategy. 
•    Establish the new marking strategy to reduce the labor time (engrave more than one sensors in the same time). 
•    Put in place the new strategy by creating new jigs, updating the machine program.
•    Put a routing to work on two machines in the same time.
•    Identify benefits.

Second project: Reduce the mechanical inspection for incoming and final inspection, and revue the mechanical control for all parts produced internally.
•    Sort parts number by labor time consumption and check the number of tolerances checked during mechanical inspection.
•    Align strategy of final inspection to incoming inspection.
•    Check all capabilities for each specification controlled. Gage R&R, Statistical analysis on Minitab or Datalyzer.
•    Adjust the control strategy for each specification in accordance with our standard and aviation regulation: Full, sampling, not controlled.
•    Put in place the new strategy and identify benefits.
•    Update internal procedure.
•    Create new jigs for an optimization of the measure (if needed)

Both projects will be performed in parallel. For all of them, a close collaboration with operators, production engineers, team leaders and quality engineers is needed.

The main tasks will be as follows:

•    Introduction to our ERP (SAP) for data extraction
•    Design of jigs (SolidWorks)
•    Statistical analysis (Minitab or Datalyzer)
•    Implement solution and measure the benefits

Your Profile

•    Master in Mechanical Engineering
•    Knowledge and/or interest in SolidWorks or equivalent (Creo Elements, Pro Engineer, Inventor)
•    Rigorous and organized
•    Hands-on attitude and team spirit
•    Curiosity and willingness to learn
•    French speaking mandatory, English is a plus
