The position

Meggitt is currently running an innovative R&D project aimed at delivering a new generation of smart sensor network enabling sustainable aviation. The internship activities are focused around the embedded software development (C language) of an electronic smart sensing node for harsh environment applications. The intern will join a five-person project team (incl. engineers in System, Hardware, Mechanical and Software) and will be expected to:

 

  • Get familiar with product family and software coding environment (incl. physical setup)
  • Understand the system functionalities, the hardware circuitry and the high-level software architecture
  • Get familiar with the existing software implementation
  • Suggest implementation strategies and code structure for remaining functions to develop, in agreement with project manager
  • Implement these functions in C software
  • Test implementation using existing hardware

 

The applicant will be able to use his/her creative out-of-the-box thinking on a wide variety of product functionalities such as: smart sensors, multi node network, lifetime analysis, BIT and smart health, auto identification strategy, network synchronization protocols, CAN/RS485/SPI networks, sensor signal processing, network capacity and topology analysis.

Implement support on low-level software blocks may also be required: peripheral drivers (memory, sensors …), sensor data management (logging, transmission, processing)…

Your profile

  • Knowledge of C language
  • Experience in programming embedded systems (microcontroller with few peripherals)
  • Basic knowledges of analog / digital electronic systems and/or hardware design
  • Proactive attitude and innovative mindset to suggest new designs and/or improvements
  • Resilience when facing challenges (technical definition, debugging …)
  • Interest in aerospace and sustainable technologies
