Reporting to the VP Finance Central & Functions you will act as the lead business partner supporting a range of functions including Advanced Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, Planning, Meggitt Production System (MPS), HSE and Manufacturing Strategy. 

You will embed yourself with the functions and become an influential member of the functions leadership.  Your role is to provide financial oversight and ensure appropriate financials controls along with financial analysis to support and inform decision making and to act as the bridge between the function and group and divisional leaders.  You will be expected to use your broad experience; structured thinking and financial acumen to constructively challenge Operational and Strategic plans to ensure that these are robust; are likely to deliver good value and where appropriate are well placed for onward approval.

It is expected that the major function[s] to be supported and that will demand the most attention will be Planning, Manufacturing Strategy and Procurement for this role (c75%).

Specific responsibilities:


Financial Governance and Control (30%)
- Lead the financial work stream of the budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning cycles.   You will liaise with divisional and central counterparts to ensure alignment of costs and benefits
- Monitor and maintain a log of evaluated risks and opportunities
- Having carefully reviewed costs you will provide regular feedback of financial performance; likely outcomes and drivers and agree course correction as appropriate
- Ensure the function has appropriate controls in place to manage and control spend prior to commitment
- Support the central closing teams activities through the support of judgmental decisions and provision of relevant and required information
- Assist with and ensure that relevant authorisations are obtained and maintained such as for capital expenditure or projects and programmes
- Ensure that wider internal policies and procedures are being followed by the function
- Liaise with and support internal and external audit as required


Finance Business Partnering (50%)
- You will place yourself at the heart of the function and align your support activities to the needs of the functions leadership
- Develop a deep understanding of the functions costs drivers and trends and ensure appropriate messages are relayed and heard
- You will work with colleagues and peers to ensure related processes are continuously improved and optimised
- Accompany functional staff when and as required; for example in supplier or contract reviews
- Evaluate alternative options and assist with the financial analysis of plans or options
- Lead preparation of financial review documents such as budget presentation packs and ensure that functional leaders and the VP Finance Central & Functions is briefed and well prepared
- Partner with the VP Manufacturing Strategy to further develop the Meggitt Transfer Process (MTP) methodology and ensure that the financial aspects are being broadly and consistently adopted for all MTP governed projects
- Partner with the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) to ensure that strategic sourcing savings are being recorded and consistently and accurately across the group
- In conjunction with the CPO develop and embed appropriate measures and controls to ensure the effective deployment of the Indirect Centralised Sourcing strategy
- Develop, agree and implement appropriate KPI's including leading indicators
- Develop, agree and implement supporting finance processes and models such as Make vs Buy


Functional Bridge (<10%)
- A close working relationship will be developed and maintained with the corporate controlling team and other support functions
- You will closely support and align with your peer group who are focussed on supporting other functions in a similar manner
- Ensure that Divisional finance leaders are appropriately informed of actions, priorities and expected outcomes
- Work with other support functions to improve and optimise upstream and downstream systems in pursuit of benefits such as improved efficiency or better governance



Financial Programme and Project Management (<10%)
- Ensure that those involved with projects and programmes have a full understanding of the financial aspects
- Review and monitor cost to complete and adherence to related approvals


Training (<5%)
- Ensure that where appropriate training in finance related matters is provided.  This could be through direct coaching and teaching or by ensuring that available training is leveraged to constantly grow the financial acumen embedded within the functions that you support


Cross Charging (<5%)
- You will inform and influence the groups cross charging policies and will ensure these are applied and complied with as appropriate


Capital Approval Process (<5%)
- You will be the custodian in respect to maintaining control and compliance with groups policies
- Direct support the preparation of capital approval submissions and through effective stakeholder management you will work to ensure timely approval is obtained
- You will both drive and support post investment appraisal and ensure that feedback is provided to inform  future decisions



Key skills and competencies required:


  • Qualified Accountant with >5 years PQE
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrable completer/finisher skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Confident in providing cross functional challenge whilst maintaining strong networks
  • Ability to sense check figures and provide robust challenge to explanations and assumptions
  • Evidenced experience of close interaction with Manufacturing and procurement functions. 
  • Experience of factory consolidations beneficial.
  • Programme management qualification beneficial
