Our Airframe Systems division brings together an extensive range of skills and abilities to support some of the world’s leading commercial, business and military aircraft manufacturers
 

Across its five product groups, Airframe Systems produces a host of world leading technology. Our Braking Systems product group supplies both military and commercial aircrafts.
 

We seal essential spaces, such as landing gear, wings, engines, nacelles, windows and doors, and produce intelligent air data systems and sensors that measure altitude, angle or acceleration

Role Summary:


To provide technical subject matter expertise to support optimisation of systems and equipment reliability, maintainability and safety parameters. To provide support to Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) to ensure that systems meet their safety objectives, that are reliable and which require minimum expenditure to support throughout its operational life.  To liaise with other Meggitt SMEs to ensure best practice is employed and shared 

Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide safety advice on Meggitt avionics equipment i.a.w. ARP4754 and ARP4761. 
  • Conduct technical safety work to support equipment-level airborne electronics equipment with a detailed knowledge the following skill sets: Reliability, Maintainability and Safety & Testability.
  • Prepare and review documentation including the following: Reliability documentation, FMECAs, Provisioning (spares) documentation, Failure Catalogues, Testability documentation, Flight Safety Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Hazard Analysis, System Safety Analysis and Maintainability Analysis.Be able to confidently liaise with internal and external customers and suppliers including the SMEs of key OEMs.
  • Be able to review and understand external Technical Specifications as they apply to Reliability, Safety and Maintainability contractual requirements
  • Review and understand system schematic diagrams
  • Be able to review and understand Technical Drawings and Design Reports 
  • Plan, organize and control activities to ensure on-time delivery and the quality of their output
  • Actively participate as a member of the Design Services team and/or project teams
Experience, Skills & Abilities:

 

  • IEng/CEng accredited University degree in Aerospace Technology / Systems / Aeronautical / Electrical Engineering or other relevant technical discipline with a strong Aerospace and/or Electrical Engineering content.  Relevant industrial experience can be considered also.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of safety analysis in the aerospace sector or 10 years in any other ‘safety-critical’ safety role.
  • Expertise with RM&S standards, e.g. MIL-HDBK, DEF-STAN and MIL-STAN, ARP4754A and ARP4761.
  • Good planning, organisational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral and written communication skills.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering principles.
  • A strong knowledge of aircraft electronics systems and equipment.
  • Good understanding of Aircraft Systems development.
  • Working knowledge of PC’s and Microsoft office suite at intermediate level.
  • Strong interpersonal and team-working skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good communication skills - liaison with internal and external customers and suppliers as required
  • A flexible approach to work and willingness to carry out special projects as assigned
