Our Airframe Systems division brings together an extensive range of skills and abilities to support some of the world’s leading commercial, business and military aircraft manufacturers

Across its five product groups, Airframe Systems produces a host of world leading technology. Our Braking Systems product group supplies both military and commercial aircrafts.

We seal essential spaces, such as landing gear, wings, engines, nacelles, windows and doors, and produce intelligent air data systems and sensors that measure altitude, angle or acceleration

Role Summary:

The role of Systems Hardware Engineer is aimed at an engineer with a hardware development background who would like to transition into working primarliy as a systems engineer 

Core Responsibilities:


  • To interpret customer requirements into clear unambiguous systems requirements and to rationalise System Development Plans to identify workflow.
  • Documenting design activities, ensuring traceability of design to requirements, whilst also ensuring adherence to relevant project, company or regulatory standards.
  • To plan and document system verification including, system tests, development tests, unit tests, component tests, integration tests, regression tests, stress tests, acceptance tests, qualification tests and flight tests as appropriate.
  • Assist in the compilation of plans, estimates, task lists and risk management plans in support of programme objectives, project estimates and bids.
  • Generate, perform and validate results of verification plans, test plans, analysis, test case design and other specific kinds of tests.
  • Work collaboratively with systems, hardware, software and mechanical engineers to ensure that system level requirements have been met and to overcome trade-offs or problems identified in the design.
  • Contribute to the development of systems architectures considering alternative concepts and trade analysis in order to determine an evidence-led preferred solution.
  • Understand and implement the requirements for certification of safety critical products to the specified development assurance level requirements and processes.

  • Contribute to continual process improvement, in support of company business and strategic objectives.

Experience, Skills & Abilities:


  • Degree level educated within an engineering field; Electrical Engineering/Aerospace Engineering
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Excellent engineering reporting and documentation skills 
  • Ability to understand and interpret systems at a “unit” level
  • Ability to capture and analyse system requirements and of validating and verifying that the system that has been produced as a result meets the original specification
  • Understanding of typical hardware and software architectures within single-box systems and good awareness of hardware and software design processes
  • Confidence to challenge the requirements and architecture of the system at each level of the hierarchy.
  • Ability to follow a disciplined and rigorous approach to Systems Engineering for Civil aircraft
  • Awareness of relevant regulation, including; ARP4754, RTCA/DO254, RTCA/DO160, or equivalent
