Role Summary
The Production Machine Technician performs complex setups and machining operations on small machine tools. Cuts various metals to size and shape to meet specifications and operates small machines and production tools.
Job Core Responsibilities
- Performs complex setup and machining operations on the small machine tools, including the structure and function of vertical mills, lathes, drill press, multiple spindle drills and riveting machines
- Installs, maintains, repairs and rebuilds various machining tools, including lathes, milling machines and drill presses.
- Diagnose problems, determine the extent of repair necessary or feasible, then repair and reassembles
- Makes ordinary replacements of new parts and complete new assemblies and selects materials, plans and performs machining operations on new or replacement parts
- Assists in setting up complex production equipment and conducting tests, analyses and calibration of assemblies by company policy
- Other responsibilities as assigned
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Education: A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.
Certifications: Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in a related field
Years Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience
Skills:
- Skilled in complex setups and machining operations on small machine tools
- Strong math skills and great attention to detail
- Ability to understand complex instructions, including schematics blueprints, schematics, models or specifications
- Able to apply an analytical approach to problem-solving
- Effective oral and written communication
- Capable of recognizing and solving typical problems that can occur in own work area; evaluates and selects solutions from established options.
- Computer proficient
