Our Airframe Systems division brings together an extensive range of skills and abilities to support some of the world’s leading commercial, business and military aircraft manufacturers

Across its five product groups, Airframe Systems produces a host of world leading technology. Our Braking Systems product group supplies both military and commercial aircrafts.

We seal essential spaces, such as landing gear, wings, engines, nacelles, windows and doors, and produce intelligent air data systems and sensors that measure altitude, angle or acceleration

Role Summary:

 

We are actively seeking a Chief Avionics Engineer to join our expanding team in Fareham, reporting directly to the Engineering Director. The successful candidate, will have a focal point for ‘safety critical’, product certifications with EASA, and will provide technical leadership and decision making on technical excellence in close partnership with the Integrated Project Teams for the development, manufacture and support of technical solutions which meet customer, business, regulatory, safety, quality, and human factors requirements.

Core Responsibilities:

 

  • You will lead design reviews for new avionics and design changes (i.e. responsible for both initial and continued airworthiness).
  • Lead the development of the product concept and design as well as the validation of possible solutions. (Variants) in line with the requirements for a specific product family to increase product
  • You will oversee product delivery and continuously ensure the fulfilment of requirements derived from the technical standards these will also include market requirements & customer expectations 
  • Monitoring the engineering governance process to provide recommendations for corrective action.You'll be primary key interface for all external regulatory bodies.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering / Electrical Engineering) or equivalent. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in avionics development with demonstrable underpinning knowledge of the full developmental lifecycle.
  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory design and certification requirements.
  • Strong Knowledge of current Systems Engineering standards and techniques particularly with respect to flight certified civil airborne systems (EUROCAE ED-79A/SAE ARP4754A, SAE ARP4761, EUROCAE ED-80 / RTCA DO-254, EUROCAE ED-12C/ RTCA/DO-178C, EUROCAE ED-14G / RTCA DO-160G, CS-ETSO, CS-23,CS-25, CS-27, CS-29,)
  • EASA Part 21O and ADOA, and approval knowledge  
  • Sound understanding of the Systems lifecycle as defined in ARP4754A
  • A thorough methodical approach to design activities and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Substantial analytical and technical problem-solving skills
  • Experience of mentoring and providing technical leadership to multi discipline engineers of all levels
  • Possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and the ability to interact with subject matter experts regarding a wide range of technical and operational topics
  • Liaise with EASA & CAA on product certifications and airworthiness
  • EASA Part 21O and ADOA, and approval knowledge (Essential)
  • Experience of mentoring and providing technical leadership to multi discipline engineers of all levels
  • Possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and the ability to interact with subject matter experts regarding a wide range of technical and operational topics
