Job Designation

Multi Axis (5+Axis) Specialist / Manual machining specialist

A person who has been fully trained through an apprenticeship or other recognised scheme and is capable of programming, setting and operating three, four and five axis CNC machining centres.

Job Core Responsibilities
  • Understands all Health and Safety requirements when working in a machine shop environment and can demonstrate an understanding of MSDS, CoSHH, PUWER and Risk Assessments
  • Skilled person, apprentice trained and conversant with all aspects of manual machining including, but not limited to turning, milling, grinding and bench work
  • Specialist in either CNC milling and fully conversant with latest machine control types such as Fanuc and Siemens
  • Competent in CNC machine setting and operating
  • Competent in NC programming at the machine utilising the machine control system
  • Competent in all quality measuring methods including, but not limited to micrometers, verniers, shadowgraph, and CMM
  • Qualified to hold a self-certification for first-off parts and production run parts
  • Capable of completing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)
  • Design and manufacture tooling to support production needs
  • Understanding and commitment to 6S principles
  • Understands and keeps current with latest tooling and cutter technologies
Job Specifications

Education: A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.

Certifications: Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field.

Years Experience: 5 years of relevant experience

  • NVQ Lvl 4, ONC or equivalent qualification in a Mechanical Engineering based subject.  An HNC equivalent qualification would be desirable but not essential.
  • Apprentice trained or other recognised equivalent scheme
  • Good relevant and demonstrable experience will be considered in the absence of an apprenticeship and/or formal qualifications.
