Job Designation

The HSE Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting the site in achieving and maintaining compliance with Meggitt HSE polices, applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulatory requirements, employee safety, industrial hygiene health programs and environmental programs to maintain a safe and healthy work force.

Job Core Responsibilities
  • Maintain compliance with HAZCOM.
  • Serve as Erlanger First Aid Responder Team Leader.
  • Work with HSE Manager to develop site-wide safety and health programs to ensure compliance and to minimize HSE risks.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with OSHA mandated industrial hygiene surveillance programs for new and current employees in order to maintain a healthy work force.
  • Identify and evaluate health hazards that may create employee exposure risks, communicate these risks to site employees and management, and assist in developing compliance and control strategies to minimize employee exposure and risks.
  • Oversee implementation of sites respiratory protection program.
  • Implement, and monitor site employee safety programs to eliminate or minimize employee injuries.
  • Be the point contact for logging and tracking near miss and unsafe condition reports with a focus to understand, resolve, and if necessary elevate to the HSE manager.
  • Conduct site HSE training for new and existing site employees.
  • Implement, and monitor site employee safety programs to eliminate or minimize employee injuries.
  • Actively participate in employee task assessments with area supervision.
  • Conduct investigations of employee injuries and site incidents identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Primary coordinator of the sites contractor’s safety program.
  • Conduct internal audits of site HSE policies. 
  • Submit necessary environmental reports for Hazardous Waste and VOC’s.
  • Coordinate and oversee waste management activities consistent with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
Job Specifications
  • 5+ years’ HSE experience working in a manufacturing plant environment.
  • Good understanding of HSE regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to correctly interpret and apply HSE regulations.
  • RCRA hazardous waste knowledge desired.
  • Demonstrates understanding of mechanical operations.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft and Adobe software and ability to develop competency in the use of ancillary software applications used by the site.
  • Experience in developing and delivering HSE training.
  • Cooperative and positive attitude to grow a pro-active HSE culture at the facility.
