Across its five product groups, Airframe Systems produces a host of world leading technology. Our Braking Systems product group supplies both military and commercial aircrafts.

We seal essential spaces, such as landing gear, wings, engines, nacelles, windows and doors, and produce intelligent air data systems and sensors that measure altitude, angle or acceleration. These sensors can be used on planes, train control systems or even missile control systems.

Job Designation

The Supplier Quality Engineer investigates, analyzes and resolves supplier quality problems by conducting internal product audits, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects. Position will be physically located in Danville, KY but will work closely with Quality staff in Akron, OH and support Coventry, England MABS and MABSQ as required.

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Liaison with Akron Quality and Purchasing personnel to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.
•    Perform containment/sort activities or coordinate 3rd party or supplier sorts. 
•    Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement when applicable. 
•    Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI’s, including Supplier OTD (Past due), DPPM and waste.
•    Responsible for the supplier RMA/RTV process and improvement of the process.
•    Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non‐conformances when required.
•    Participate in Quality Clinic.
•    Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.
•    Develop long‐term supplier relationships and generate and implement cost reduction ideas.
•    Projects may include: process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis, 6‐Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events.
•    Drive “Built In Quality/Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base.
•    Communicate engineering and manufacturing specifications to supplier technical teams.
•    Deploy APQP requirements to suppliers on new parts on new programs and manage the supplier submissions.
•    Review and approve supplier First Article Inspection reports in the AS9101 format.
•    Travel to supplier locations to resolve quality problems.
•    Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non‐conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
•    Identify and record any problems relating to the product process and quality system.
•    Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
•    Verify the implementation of solutions.
•    Perform other tasks as defined and agreed to by Supplier Quality Management in order to meet Meggitt objectives. 
•    Some travel (10-20%) required.

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Quality or other related field or relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Certifications: ASQ a plus
Years’ Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing environment
Skills:
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills
•    Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office applications
•    Strong problem solving skills
•    Strong organizational skills
•    Understanding of project management (experience preferred)
•    Knowledge of various Quality System methodologies 8D, Lean, 5 Why’s, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, 8-D, DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, etc. preferred
•    Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, work well with diverse groups of people and be able to function independently of direct supervision
•    Ability to travel abroad
