Job Designation

The Repair Station Technician is responsible for monitoring/improving the Repair Station processes in accordance with CFR 14 Part 145 FAA guidelines and providing technical guidance to Repair Station personnel. The Repair Station Technician reports to the Repair Station Manager with dotted line responsibilities to the Chief Inspector. The successful candidate will help build positive relationships with internal/external customers by providing failure analysis through Repair Station personnel and solutions to technical questions for assigned in-service aircraft model programs.  Assignments may include maintenance deviations, development of experimental tools, work flow processing for Repairs.  This role provides a vital part of the on-going customer feedback process.

Job Core Responsibilities
  • Applying standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques in providing solutions to a variety of problems, using the applicable CMM as a reference.
  • Apply standard MABS and industry techniques, methods and criteria to the solution of problems.
  • Must possess sufficient knowledge of plant/repair operations to obtain and integrate services of other groups whose participation is essential to the successful accomplishment of assignments.
  • Troubleshoot moderately complex repair issues using historical precedence as a base guideline for repair solutions. A principle challenge is in matching available methodology and/or support with particular assignments.
  • Organizes, interprets and reports results with little guidance. Defines the expectations of the repair order analysis reporting and provides feedback as necessary.
  • Assists in driving corrective actions within the facility or as a response to a customer complaint. 
  • Drives and assists in Continuous Improvement opportunities both in the repair station processes and the products. 
  • Planning of assignments is normally performed with concurrence of the Repair Station Manager primarily or the Chief Inspector for FAA/EASA related responsibilities. Final reports and results are approved by the Repair Station Manager for soundness of technical judgement and overall accuracy and adequacy.Works in a team environment within the company with Repair Station personnel and Customer Support Representatives.  Work with Distribution Center personnel on an occasional basis.
  • Works closely with other engineering departments, metallurgist, warranty manager and the Repair  Station to help solve problems involving product deficiencies, design changes, maintenance deviations, and manufacturing processes and costs, enabling the cross-pollination of design ideas/technical know­ how.
  • Assists in product maintenance training of customers on-site or at the applicable home base in conjunction with field support representatives
  • Maintains and updates CMM’s for assigned in-service aircraft model programs
  • Interfaces outside of the company with customer engineers and repair shop technicians concerning aspects of product performance and maintenance training, and infrequently with vendors for technical information and price estimates.
  • Generates reports/supports customer/regulatory agency visits as necessary for the Repair Station Manager and/or Chief Inspector as required.
  • Ability to obtain FAA repairman designation and perform those functions as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
Job Specifications

Education: A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Years Experience: 2 years experience in Wheels and Brakes, both Original Equipment and Repairs

  • Ability to make technical decisions on customer owned product for workflow processing.
  • Good planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment.
  • Ability to obtain FAA repairman designation 
  • Able to drive corrective actions within the facility or as a response to a customer complaint.
  • Ability to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports
  • Ability to ensure a high level of service and quality is maintained
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Ability to research and analyze data effectively
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines
  • Strong computer skills in the current company operating systems environment


Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb.  May have possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.
