Job Designation

The Manager, Carbon Refurbishment & Warehouse is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing all activities necessary for the manufacture of worn carbon brake discs and all activities of the carbon warehouse which includes and is not limited to shipping, receiving, material dispatch, and inventory management.  Responsible for developing and providing necessary information relating to capital expenditures for area of oversight while leading a team of both direct and indirect reports. 

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact for North America carbon refurbishment, manufacturing development, sustainment of existing programs, and KPI owner
  • Become the SME for the carbon refurbishment value stream as a whole with a detailed understanding of the manufacturing, quality and financial processes
  • Responsible for managing all shipping, receiving warehousing and material control functions for the Danville carbon facility including raw materials, finished product, facility materials and other company owned assets
  • Key integrated project team (IPT) member for carbon growth and expansion; build and support schedules for new program refurbishment schemes and warehouse
  • Responsible for operational performance, develop improvement targets and execute these improvement plans; at all times, develop, track, and report key performance measurements and metrics in support of company’s goals and objectives
  • Reduce cost of operations for both carbon refurb manufacturing and warehouse activities by implementing Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement; initiate Kaizen events as necessary to achieve the most efficient and cost effective solution
  • Provide effective organizational structure with proper training, coaching, and oversight as necessary, as well as succession planning to achieve best practices in Meggitt Braking Systems manufacturing
  • Support cross-functional improvement activities across all global carbon value streams as needed
  • Provide effective communications within Braking Systems and with other organizations to provide an atmosphere of cooperation
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor Degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering, Management or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience which will allow successful performance of job expectation
Years’ Experience: 5 - 10 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in machining, assembly & warehousing with experience in the Aerospace industry highly desirable


  • Ability to work independently and interface with cross-functional disciplines; using collaborative interpersonal skills to drive tasks to completion
  • Strong project management skills for successful project delivery and proficiency
  • Management skills, including delegation, training and evaluating performance
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, facilities support systems, safety and environmental practices and regulations is also required
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple activities and projects; works well under pressure
  • Self-motivated, self-starter who works well in a team and can motivate others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders
  • Management of cross-functional teams within the aerospace industry
  • Proficient with Lean, Cellular, and Continuous Improvement concepts; able to implement to increase productivity and remove waste
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve machining problems
  • Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities under demanding circumstances
  • Good working knowledge of carbon processing and manufacturing methodology preferred
  • Experience with SAP, Q-Pulse and CAPPS and various problem solving methods preferred
