Job Role

We have an exciting Senior Hosting & Storage Engineer role as part of our expanding IT department within our state of the art facility in Ansty Park, Coventry. This business critical role comes at a time of increased investment as we look to modernise & standardise our IT offering across the globe. You will be an integral part of our Infrastructure division.


The Senior Hosting & Storage Engineer as part of the Platforms Team will be working across a broad range of technologies and liaising with multiple areas of the business to support, evaluate, build, deliver and maintain the provision of a performant and secure distributed Infrastructure environment. 


You will be responsible for providing specialist technical support and expertise across Meggitt’s Infrastructure and Cloud Environment covering hardware, technical systems software and cloud based technologies.  Furthermore, you will provide specialist technology expertise and be the escalation point across the Hosting & Storage Engineers - Platforms Team, including technical ownership and management of high priority incidents and problem records.  

Core Responsibilities

•    Operate and maintain traditional IT infrastructures, cloud ecosystems, and IT services to meet business needs. Manages compute physical/virtual and storage environments; oversees systems and services maintenance and security
•    Work with teams and cross-functional partners to identify and resolve systematic operational challenges that impact the customer experience
•    Proactively support and manage the global portfolio of Hosting and Storage Solutions ensuring platforms run effectively, securely and efficiently, ensuring hyper-vigilant support is provided
•    Be responsible for maintaining and proactively managing the global portfolio of Hosting and Storage Solutions
•    Provide Specialist level Incident and Problem management support.
•    Perform problem identification and root cause analysis for complex issues.
•    Perform regular health checks identifying and recommending any potential service improvements.
•    Participation and engagement in Projects/Service improvements impacting Infrastructure and Data Centre Services. 
•    Identification ownership and implementation of proactive maintenance plans including essential upgrades and software patches.
•    Monitor and review service performance at a component level e.g. Application Server, production of reports including recommendations for risk mitigation.
•    3rd party/vendor liaison with respect to technical support, build and maintenance.
•    Meet levels of service in line with published/agreed SLA’s.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ideally degree educated    
  • Significant number of years’ experience in a specialist support/delivery role in a medium to large organisation, with significant technical delivery/support responsibility
  • Excellent customer-facing skills, including critical issue escalation & resolution, root cause analysis / corrective actions, and leading with accountability
  • Deep technical knowledge/specialism of the following technologies to “Expert” level:
  • VMware Cloud Foundation/ Netapps Storage/Microsoft Server platforms, Dell Vxrail ( HCI) 
  • Managing and upgrading Active directory in a multi domain environment
  • Domain Services  ( DNS , DHCP, IPAM, PKI, MFA, DFS,NTP, File and Print) 
  • Backup, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to be an effective team player
  • Understanding of culture in its broadest sense and the diversity of a global organisation.
