Meggitt IT works closely with the engineering function to develop and deploy engineering systems required to support business growth, and create a scalable and efficient IT architecture capable of supporting the current and future engineering requirements. As the Engineering IT Applications Analyst within Meggitt Information Services (MIS), you will shape end-to-end engineering applications solutions for deployment across Meggitt. You will be working with the engineering leads to define Meggitt’s global PLM and Engineering Simulation strategy and requirements and work with the functional architects to develop the Engineering Applications roadmap to increase capability, operational efficiency and resilience over a rolling 3-year horizon.
 

Role Summary
The Role will require splitting your time between supporting Engineering application project deployments and supporting various engineering applications across the Meggitt environment.  In the engineering applications deployment role you You will be working with users, doing installs, troubleshooting issues, and also providing some basic training to users that may be required during the onboarding process.  The Role requires the ability to manage multiple ongoing activities, requiring good time management skills and the ability to move between tasks smoothly between dealing with the details and constraints of bringing a project to successful conclusion and working with users that are in crisis because they need something to complete their task. Having a broad understanding of what engineering users need to do their job well is a huge benefit.     

 

Core Responsibilities
  • Working with the Business Relationship Managers, the Engineering IT Analyst will be responsible for identifying future engineering business system needs, and recommending technology solutions to meet these requirements in a cost effective and future proof manner.
  • The successful candidate will work with the Functional Architects to develop the applications roadmap detailing the technology and solutions Meggitt will deploy over a 3-year rolling period.
  • Document the engineering applications landscape and applications standards and freely communicate this with the business, internal MIS team members and vendors.
  • Support governance and ensure adherence to technical policies and best practice across all engineering transformation projects.
  • Maintain awareness of new engineering applications technologies and recommend new technologies that can bring commercial advantage to Meggitt.
  • Support our Application Managed Services (AMS) team on engineering issues.
  • Advise on strategies to integrate disparate engineering and business systems such as PLM and SAP interface.
  • Support requirements gathering and facilitate technical design and conceptual solution development workshops.
  • Conduct a review of engineering applications used globally and support rationalisation, standardisation and consolidation of engineering applications and systems globally.  
  • Review and monitor applications usage globally and make recommendations to ensure Meggitt engineering has the right level of application licenses and support.
  • Lead/support root cause investigation following critical application issues/failures to embed lessons learned and prevent future failures.  
Skills knowledge & Abilities

   

  • University degree educated in IT, Computing or  business experience in similar roles.
  • Good verbal communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively with Business Managers, Colleagues, and Vendors.
  • Ability to write business requirements and  understand technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of PLM software solution capabilities, such as 3DExperience, Enovia, Windchill, Teamcentre, etc. and other engineering/design/analysis applications and software development systems.
  • Experience of working with geographically distributed enterprise/systems and developing distributed system architecture.    
  • Experience of working in manufacturing, aerospace or automotive sector preferred.
  • Experience of integration of Engineering Solutions with SAP ERP Systems is preferred.
  • Formal qualification and/or experience of IT architecture, technical design and solution development preferred.
