Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Data Engineer to join our growing Group Data Team, working closely with our internal IT team and business stakeholders, driving the more technical aspects of Group Data Management and Reporting.  

As the Data Engineer you with be responsible for the extraction of datasets from multiple data sources, provision of data mappings, supporting the data feeds and rule-sets required for reports, visualization and analytics.  You’ll become an integral part of a highly motivated and high performing Data Team supporting the growing excitement and demand for Data solutions across all Divisions and locations of the Meggitt Group.
 

Core Responsibilities

  • Supporting the delivery of the technical data provision aspects for Reporting purposes, Dashboards, Data Migrations and Data Analytics.  The toolsets used vary from the Data Lake and Business Warehouse, to Excel and SQL, through to ETL toolsets and data extraction toolsets (experience of SAP datasets is beneficial).  
  • Driving and supporting continuous technology improvements including on-going enhancements to our key Data Warehouses – a SAP HANA Business Warehouse and Microsoft Azure Data Lake 
  • Providing insightful and accurate business data to our key internal customers to influence key decision making.  The need to influence and communicate with Senior Business and IT Colleagues is an important part of the role.
  • Assist with performing data quality measurement and assurance activities, working with Data Analysts, Divisional Data Managers and Site Users to handle, monitor and resolve data quality issues

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

To be successful in this role you have previous proven experience in Data Engineering/Analysis roles with knowledge of various technical data solutions and techniques.  You’ll also have previous proven experience of SAP and Data Lake technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Data Bricks and Synapse is advantageous. 

 

Key responsibilities will also include: 

  • Exposure to the Data industry and a strong understanding of data systems, models, structures and techniques 
  • Experience of dealing with business and IT stakeholders to gather requirements and implement solutions
  • Strong management, influencing and communication skills with ability to prioritise
  • Good analytical problem solving and fact finding skills
  • Ability to operate at strategic and tactical levels of project implementation
