Role Summary

 

The Data Engineer will support the Group Data Team, working closely with MIS team, to provide support for the more technical aspects of Group Data Management and Reporting.  This would include the extraction of datasets from multiple data sources, provide data mappings, support the data feeds and rule-sets required for reports and dashboards along with being an integral part of specifying and delivering data project work.

 

The Data Engineer will be an integral part of the overall Meggitt Group Data Team which is aiming to become the “voice of information” across the Group.  Albeit initially focused on the ‘data foundations’ right,  increasingly this role will evolve to help across internal and external data, geographies and help support key data driven outcomes across many operational areas.

Core Responsibilities

 

  • Support the delivery of the technical data provision aspects for Reporting purposes, Dashboards, Data Migrations and Data Analytics.
  • Works with stakeholders from across the Group businesses and MIS department, assisted by the Group Head of Data as necessary.
  • Ensure efficient delivery of defined data engineering deliverables, raising Change Requests as appropriate and actively seeking and identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies.
  • Assesses the integrity of information and acts accordingly to both prevent errors and ensure the highest levels of accuracy possible.  
  • Assists with performing data quality control and assurance activities, working with Data Analysts and Divisional Data Managers to handle, monitor and resolve data quality issues
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

 

  • Minimum of 5 years of Data Engineering type roles with knowledge of various technical solutions, including Excel VBA, SQL, ETL Toolsets and SAP Data Extraction (BODs)
  • Exposure to the Data industry and an understanding of data systems
  • Strong management, influencing and communication skills with ability to prioritiseA strong understanding of data models, structures and techniques
  • Experience in organising and streamlining data processes, Data migration and data cleanse processes
  • Ability to operate at strategic and tactical levels of project implementation
  • Ability to travel as needed
