Role Summary

Responsible for setting and operating CNC/ conventional plant and equipment including conversational CNC machines. Bench dressing, painting, welding and assembly duties will be required. Part of a multidisciplinary team achieving performance measures, continuous improvement and first line maintenance objectives.

Core Responsibilities

  • Machining of carbon discs using CNC and Conventional machines
  • Inputting data into SAP
  • Training / meetings
  • Performs complex set-up and machining operations, on the small machine tools including the set-up and operation of vertical mills, lathes, drill press, multiple spindle drills and riveting machines
  • Installs, maintains, repairs and rebuilds a variety of machining tools including lathes, milling machines and drill presses
  • Diagnose problems, determines extent of repair necessary or feasible, then repairs and reassembles
  • Makes ordinary replacements of new parts and/or complete new assemblies and selects materials, plans and performs machining operations on new or replacement parts
  • Assists in setting up complex production equipment and conducting test, analyses and calibration of assemblies in accordance with company policy 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities List

  1. Program tool data as appropriate for operations to be performed. Carry out simulation if appropriate.
  2. Produce first off component of batch and inspect before proceeding to rest of batch. 
  3. Perform bench operations including dressing, etching etc. as required.
  4. Carry out painting operations as required, which includes paint and protective treatment application and stenciling. This involves the use of drying ovens.
  5. Carry out assembly and welding operations as required.
  6. AO coating when required
  7. Perform tool maintenance if necessary; complete any required documentation on batch and on tooling used.
  8. Maintain machine in a state of good order and cleanliness.
  9. Operate pedestal grinding machine as required, and a range of measuring equipment such as micrometers, Vernier’s, diameter gauges, comparators etc
