Job Designation

The Cost Analyst/Estimator provides accurate and timely cost estimates that impact business decisions. Partners with other internal departments to estimate costs and profit specifications. Ensures that cost development policies and procedures are in compliance with government laws, regulations and management objectives.

Job Core Responsibilities

  •  Gathers all pertinent data to calculate accurate cost estimates from internal and external sources 
  •  Performs analysis of specifications and proposal documents 
  •  Provides detailed cost estimates along with supporting rationale
  •  Defines business strategies in relation to customer objectives when creating estimates, while providing a profit for the organization  
  •  Ensures that legal and trade compliance requirements are considered in costs
  •  Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  •  Other responsibilities as assigned
  •  Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  •  Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Job Specifications

Education: Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations 

Years Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience 

Skills: 

Understands key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work
Excellent knowledge of mathematics 
Experience in document control policies and procedures in regulated environment
Able to meet multiple, sometimes conflicting deadlines, using available resources 
Good interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills
