The position entails managing NPI heat exchanger and associated projects from receipt of initial requirements through design, development / certification and into initial production in accordance with applicable regulatory, customer and MCS requirements. It also requires supporting both general sustaining and in-service (MRO/Aftermarket) activities.




  • Coordination and execution of overall engineering activity association with NPI projects.
  • To lead or represent the Engineering function within the IPT. Work with MCS, customer and supplier personnel to achieve the optimum solution. Facilitate the overall design process and be the customer-facing technical representative.
  • Thermally design and analyse heat exchanger performance (based on experience / training).
  • Interpret requirements and prepare a variety of technical documentation (e.g. compliance matrices, technical proposals, Risk Management, DFMEAs, test reports, Declaration of Design and Performance (DDP)).
  • Prepare and present of technical documentation for regular project status and design reviews (e.g. PDR, CDR), making technical decisions on behalf of the company, either at MCS and/or at customer facilities, in the UK or overseas.
  • Prepare development and certification test procedures in accordance with customer and regulatory requirements. Supervising the execution of these test programmes, analyse test data and prepare reports for internal and customer / airworthiness authority approval. Includes witnessing tests in UK and overseas laboratories.
  • Create and maintain detailed and summary project schedules, utilising MS Project or other planning tools, ensuring projects are executed to the agreed plan. Identify and track associated resource requirements.
  • Prepare and monitor project expenditure, supporting departmental and business level financial control requirements.
  • Based on experience, provide technical guidance, supervision and mentoring for Engineering personnel. Deputise for the Engineering Management as required.
  • In-load of Indianapolis/Troy design office projects & onward support to the US Troy NPI.
Key Attributes



  • Candidates shall have an engineering qualification (B/MEng Degree, HND or equivalent), plus relevant experience / skills, including:
  • Experience of product development, creating effective engineering solutions and delivering technical projects to tight timelines and under pressure.
  • Excellent analytical and technical reporting skills with a good knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint are essential as well as MS Project and/or similar Project Management tools.
  • Excellent project management, communication (verbal and written), organisation and co-ordination skills.
  • High work ethic & desire to learn and impart learning within the team.
  • Able to cope with multiple complex issues and solve problems, with attention to detail. Lateral thinking skills. To work on own initiative and as part of a team, having a confident and proactive and flexible approach
