Job Designation

The Supplier Quality Engineer will have functional responsibility to the Meggitt Airframe Systems Braking Systems Supplier Quality organization.  Meggitt is a multi-national business supplying some of the world's best known aerospace organizations.  This a rare opportunity to join Meggitt's world class quality management team as a Supplier Quality Engineer.  Our customers are looking to Meggitt to enhance our current processes and provide delegated management of our suppliers including manufacturing process approvals, monitor supplier performance and develop under-performers where necessary, as well as Meggitt's strategic suppliers.  This role will require an experienced individual capable of understanding, interpreting and communicating customer requirements and ensuring suppliers deliver Right First Time product.

Job Core Responsibilities
  • Manage, understand and interpret customer requirements to ensure the effective flow down to Meggitt suppliers.
  • Perform audits on supplier systems, processes and products against Meggitt and customer requirements, including the control of digital data and effective quality planning of New Product Introductions.
  • Ability to identify system gaps, process and organizational risk and improvement opportunities, detailing these in audit reports.
  • Verify that corrective/preventative actions have been fully implemented and are effective.
  • Develop improvement plans with the suppliers and manage the effective implementation.
  • Provide training to suppliers to ensure they have the capability to cmplete all agreed actions.
  • Support customer delegated product and process qualifcation processes, where required.
  • Support the supplier in the aplnning and submission of FAIR/LAIR including APQP/PPAP.
  • Review the supplier's product quality planning for compliance with Meggitt, customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate the resolution of supplier queries, including the submission of concessions, if required.
Job Specifications

Education : Bachelor's degree in science/technical related field that will allow successful performance of job expectations.  Master's Degree is a plus.
Certifications :
Years Experience :
5 years minimum of relevant experience, preferably within the aerospace or automotive industries or a high technology/small batch product design/manufacturing environment.
Skills :

  • Quality Systems experience in ISO9001 / AS9100 / QS9000 and rigorous customer requirements.  Qualified assessor/lead assessor is an advantage.
  • Assessment of systems and processes, including statistical techniques and capability studies
  • Clear understanding of general machining and fabrication manufacturing processes.
  • Risk mitigation techniques such as PFMEA, APQP/PPAP, Lean NPI
  • Use of measurement system analysis, gauge R&R.
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques.  Green/Black Belt preferred.
  • Aerospace or automotive experience will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of complex Quality Engineering processes and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent ability to apply a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to apply core concepts of  engineering
  • Ability to interpret internal/external business challenges and make recommendations for improvements to products, processes or services
  • Ability to explain a range of complex technical information     
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to proactively identify and solve problems using RCCA and other problem-solving techniques such as 8D.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
  • Fully conversant with general business computer-based software such as MS Office products.
