Job Designation

The Sr. Project Manager executes the overall activities set within the scope of the project and in accordance with Product Lifecycle Management to meet budget, schedule and performance constraints.  Directs internal resources to ensure project delivery is on time and cost and to the specific, pre-defined deliverables as detailed in the project charter.  Operates within the defined Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure to manage schedule, risk and communication.  Reports project performance through the Program Manager or directly to customers and executive management to achieve both project and program objectives.  Focuses on tactical delivery within a program structure.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Works within the defined project charter and/or program management plan including budget, schedule and resource constraints.
  • Responsible for delivering a defined scope of work to agreed cost and timeframe
  • Provides leadership to the assigned resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Provides leadership to the Integrated Product Team to achieve project goals.
  • Manages communication primarily at an operational level concerning operational details (cost, schedule, quality).
  • Works within the Program Lifecycle Management (PLM) process to meet project and program requirements.
  • Coordinates and leads PLM gate reviews.
  • Participates in the Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR) and Final Design Review Processes (FDR)
  • Plans a project given the dependencies and interfaces defined by the Program Manager (PM) and/or Director-Program Management.
  • Planning of tasks and resources
  • Manages project risks and issues, escalating to the Program Manager or Director-Program Management wherever necessary
  • Reports project performance (milestones and budget adherence)
  • Supports the forecasting of project and program demand during the quarterly rolling forecast (RF) process
  • Interfaces with functional managers
  • Supports the resource management process with functional managers and Program Management.
  • Supports customer reviews
  • Application of Daily Layered Accountability (DLA) in the performance of the project team
  • Addresses appropriate containment or escalation

Job Specifications

Education: Post-secondary degree required. Degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or other technical field preferred.

Years’ Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required in New Product Introduction, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing or Operations Engineering.

  • Understanding of financial, product development, operational functions and key business drivers
  • Demonstrated experience working and managing teams in a multi-discipline matrix environment required
  • Ability to work independently and interface with cross-functional disciplines; using excellent interpersonal skills to drive tasks to completion
  • Excellent Project/Program Management skills for successful project delivery required
  • Excellent organizational skills and effective problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills with the expertise to develop clear and detailed plans
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations to management
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple activities and projects; works well under pressure
  • Self-motivated with problem solving and decision making skills    
  • Strong PC skills required; Experience with MS Project and SAP preferred
  • Ability to Travel
