Our Airframe Systems division brings together an extensive range of skills and abilities to support some of the world’s leading commercial, business and military aircraft manufacturers.

Across its five product groups, Airframe Systems produces a host of world leading technology. Our Braking Systems product group supplies both military and commercial aircrafts.

We seal essential spaces, such as landing gear, wings, engines, nacelles, windows and doors, and produce intelligent air data systems and sensors that measure altitude, angle or acceleration. These sensors can be used on planes, train control systems or even missile control systems.

Job Designation

The Senior Buyer is accountable for the development, implementation, and on-going management of NPI programs and is a key member on the integrated product teams (IPTs).   Responsible for reducing the overall supply risk through contingency planning and understanding of supplier capacities, disaster preparedness, and financial health. Develop and improve overall supplier and supply base capabilities.

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Support new product introductions (NPI) and program activities as required
•    Proactively tap and secure supplier innovation in support of continued product development
•    Proven track record in facilitation and project management skills to lead/facilitate/support multi-disciplined teams, drive consensus, and coordinate implementation in support of NPI programs.  
•    Develop effective supplier relationships at appropriate levels to ensure long term partnerships with key suppliers
•    Drive appropriate supplier segmentation strategies to establish sourcing direction based upon strategy, performance, and importance
•    Research new and improved sources of supply as appropriate to support sourcing activities
•    Work proactively with suppliers and personnel to drive savings from supply chain activities including Value Analysis and Value Engineering and low cost country sourcing
•    Track, forecast, and manage global market, currency, cost and geo-political environment changes as appropriate 
•    Support resolution of significant supplier performance issues
•    Support and align with Meggitt PLC level sourcing activities
•    Facilitate engineering changes and other projects to enable savings and/or sourcing flexibility
•    Participate in make versus buy processes
•    Support continuous improvement activities across the entire supply chain including development and implementation of appropriate measures of performance.
•    Ensure purchasing teams represent Meggitt at the highest level of ethical conduct fully abiding by company policies and procedures
•    Utilize and maintain purchasing systems in support of departmental goals
•    Place purchase orders and expedite when necessary
•    Carry out special duties as assigned

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor degree required
Years’ Experience: Minimum 5 years of buying experience with training and knowledge in cost analysis, negotiation strategies, blueprint reading and practitioning to the Federal Acquisition Regulations or equivalent
Skills:
•    Must be a self-starter, excellent in organizing, evaluating, decision-making, implementing, administering and communicating
•    This position may be called upon to make periodic presentation reports to material management and personnel as well as that of outlying organizations
•    Written reports are not infrequent and may include trip reports, requests for assistance, periodic status reports in areas of particular responsibility as well as special reports on specific problems as assigned by management
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with ability to drive tasks to completion
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with a high proficiency in Excel
•    SAP experience required
•    Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously
•    Assist with department training as required (i.e., new hires) and roll out of department initiatives
