Job Designation

The Operationa Excellence (Continuous Improvement) Leader is accountable for driving acceleration of Meggitt's Lean Management System to achieve top quartile sustainable business results with focus on the cross-functional Braking Systems Product Group processes.  This includes leading and facilitating improvement activities and delivering formal training to build capability in critical lean management system standards.

Job Core Responsibilities
  •  Conduct Maturity Readiness Assessments across both Operations and Business functions.  Work with site/function leadership to develop plans and drive maturity gap closure in support of MPS progression (Meggitt Production System).
  • Build Continuous Improvement capabilities across all organiztaion levels to support Operations and Business Functions via formal and informal training (ie Yellow Belt, Lean Green Belt, Shop floor Management, etc)
  • Mentor Green Belt candidates through project completion and certification.
  • Support the execution of the Product Group Strategic Improvement Priorities (SIP); working closely with the Executive and Product Group Leadership.
  • Manage and drive the daily use of core MPS/CI tools throughout the organization (Daily Layered Accountability, 6S, Standard Work, Problem Solving)
  • Support APQP tool set usage across the business
  • Facilitate and lead strategic level workshops and events, including Strategy Deployment and Planning (Hoshin Kanri based), Value Stream Mapping for operations and business processes, 3P, 3P/Cell Design
  • Work with Operations and key business functions to connect processes in support of Lean Transformation
  • Capture and share Continuous Improvement best practices across the Product Group and Meggitt.
Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or Supply Chain; MBA a plus

Years Experience: Minimum 8 yrs experience as Continuous Improvement professional.  Experience in an operations or business function leadership role preferred.

Travel:  ability to travel up to 25% (domestic and international)

Skills:

  • Experience in Operating System Development and Deployment, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma/DMAIC methodology, APQP Tools, Hoshin Kanri Strategy Deployment
  • Ideal candidate can demonstrate prior experience deploying such systems at industrial (preferably aerospace) companies and has been through several stages of excellence/maturity phases
  • Additional experience in one or more of the following is prefered:  Organizational Design (OD)/Organizational Effectiveness (OE) toolset and methodology; Program Management (PM) and New Product Introduction (NPI); Strategic Sales and Marketing (SSM)
  • Lean Expert level certification (Black Belt or Master Black Belt) or equivalent is preferred
  • Formal and informal training skills
  • Program/Project Management certification a plus
  • Solid business acumen which allows quick assessments of the potential impacts of issues and solutions
  • Strong written communication and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate the implementation of significant changes in a large organization
  • Clear understanding of utilizing core lean tools to improve business processes
  • Track record of driving solutions to assigned tasks utilizing a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning as well as tactical execution road map development
  • Conflict management skills and decision making skills
  • Analytical and research skills
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task.
