Job Designation

The Manager of Supply Chain Quality is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all Quality Assurance activities of the full supply chain in respect to quality program for the design, manufacture, distribution and service of all Meggitt Braking Systems to the worldwide market in order to assure highest quality products.  The role will be based in Akron, Ohio and will report to the Global Director of Quality for Meggitt Braking Systems.  It will have global direct reports.

Job Core Responsibilities
  • Acts as a global single point of contact for all supply chain quality issues.
  • Plan, direct and organize the supplier quality, product reliability functions for the Braking Systems to ensure the highest quality products in a manner which supports profit and return on investment objectives.
  • Assist manufacturing management to produce products at the most economical level consistent with customer, corporate and government requirements and quality objectives.
  • Provide effective communications within Braking Systems and with other organizations to provide an atmosphere of cooperation.
  • Provide an effective organizational structure with proper training and development as well as succession planning to meet personnel replacement needs.
  • Liaise with internal departments as well as externally with suppliers, customers and regulatory authorities to support achieving quality objectives.
  • Manage an effective supplier quality assurance program.  This includes supplier development and ongoing supplier approval.
  • Be a company focal point for continuous improvement.  Provide training, coaching and oversight as necessary to achieve best practices in Meggitt Braking Systems, as well as other business processes.
  • Responsible for all activity associated with managing direct reports, such as planning, selecting, coordinating work and evaluating personnel.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
Job Specifications

Education : Bachelor's Degree in a science-related field.  Master's degree a plus.
Certifications : Lean or Six Sigma or equivalent experience in related field
Years Experience : minimum 7 years of relevant experience as a quality professional in a machining and assembly manufacturing environment.  Working knowledge of Government (Military) regulatory (FAA, EASA) and ISO/AS quality system requirements.  Technical proficiency in quality and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment are required, in addition to management skills.

  •   Keen analytical skills with a high level of attention to details in order to prepare statistical analysis
  •   Ability to make technical and managerial decisions which will have a significant effect on Quality Assurance
  •   Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams as well as communicate effectively with all internal and external customers and employees in a timely and effective manner    
  •   Able to lead, plan and direct technical efforts, and apply technical tools to meet team objectives
  •   Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management tools
