Job Designation

The General Accounting Manager manages integrity of the General Ledger and related sub-systems while partnering with other management to ensure budgets and forecasts are adhered to along with proper asset and accounting controls.  Ensures financial business processes are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

The manager has core responsibility for the ledger, assets, SG&A and R&D controlling along with financial reporting systems and control processes.

Job Core Responsibilities

Leads the Ledger Accounting group and advises management in interpreting and utilizing managerial accounting information
•    Oversight of multi-site ledger with focus on integrity of balance sheet accounts
•    Responsible for monthly close schedule and execution
•    Work closely with Shared Service, FP&A, and division accounting to ensure timely and accurate closing
•    Ensure monthly account reconciliations are performed across the organization
•    Continually improve close timing and efficiency
•    Responsible for Capital Expenditure tracking, reporting, forecasting
•    Take decisions and proactive actions to deliver and maximize financial results on Balance sheet, Profit & Loss and Free Cash Flow elements.
•    Assist in coordination and deliverables of internal and external audits, make sure audit actions are solved on time and bring improvement on site processes in general
•    Lead migration of SG&A budgeting and reporting to BPC reporting tool
•    Partners with functional department management  to ensure optimization of the company’s financial performance relative to plan and forecasting
•    Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations
•    Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
•    Managing multi-site allocations, distributions, and cost center budgets
•    Oversees cost center budgeting and variance analysis
•    R&D controlling for $30M engineering budget
•    Develops business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
•    Ensures timely and complete financial statements, various governmental and insurance filings along with supporting data necessary for annual tax supplements
•    Prepares reports which summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses and earnings based on past, present and future operations
•    Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required.  May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary, some  travel required
•    Safeguards organizational assets 
•    Manage accounting professionals

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting; Masters
Certifications  CPA a plus
Years Experience: 5-10 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, with previous management experience preferred

Extensive knowledge of accounting, financial planning, reporting and analysis, acquired through related work experience in increasingly complex roles
•    Highly organized and detailed oriented with focus on transparency in data and processes
•    Capable in directing the resolution of complex or unusual business problems, while applying advanced analytical thought and judgment, able to simplify and clarify the topic
•    Demonstrated success in developing strategic financial planning to ensure maximization of business performance
•    Excellent people management skills and experience
•    Proficient in driving change transformation and strategy execution to achieve specific business results
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence, while exercising sensitivity to the audience
•    Ability to anticipate internal or external business challenges/regulatory issues and make recommendations 
•    Knowledge of IFRS
•    Skillful at MS Office, including strong Excel skills including V-lookup, pivot tables, and filtering functions
•    Able to build consensus across multiple organizations
•    Experience with SAP the ERP solution a plus
