Job Designation

Responsible for a limited scope of the development of new Meggitt Wheel & Brake equipment as defined by customer and government requirements as well as Meggitt’s internal standards.  This encompasses adherence to performance, cost and schedule requirements.  The role also includes support for internal customers to ensure the business delivers its commitments to its contractual customers and operators. 

Job Core Responsibilities
  •     When required, lead / be responsible for small sub-projects within the overall Wheel & Brake project.  
  •     Creation and review of technical requirement documents under the guidance of Lead Wheel & Brake Engineer in accordance with government standards, company standards and customer requirements. 
  •     When required, support the Lead Wheel & Brake Engineer and Lead Wheel & Brake Designer through all phases of equipment new product development including requirements management, requirements validation, design manufacturing phase, qualification / certification testing and initial entry into service. 
  •     Under the guidance of the Lead W&B Engineer helps to ensure all program targets are satisfied; includes technical performance, non-recurring costs, recurring costs and project schedule. This includes coordination with other Engineering functions to support the equipment development. 
  •     Responsible for assisting and tracking of key metrics through the development process including non-recurring costs, design to cost, design maintenance costs, reliability, weight, etc. for their assigned equipment. 
  •     Works with Lead Wheel & Brake Engineer to coordinate with stress, thermal, vibration and reliability analysis engineers to ensure adequate margins against design requirements are met.  
  •     Works with the Lead Wheel & Brake Engineer in close coordination with supply chain and/or operations to ensure designs for manufacture while satisfying the Design to Cost targets. 
  •     Works closely with assigned Test Engineers and Lead Engineer to assist in the development of all qualification test documents and test set-up drawings. Supports Lead Engineer to ensure qualification test plans will verify requirements according to the agreed method of compliance.  
  •     Assists in the maintenance of equipment parts lists and drawing reviews to ensure drawings are released on time and are in conformance with design and drafting standards. 
  •     Participates in internal/external design reviews as required by the Product Line Expert, Subject Matter Expert and/or Chief Engineer and customer. 
  •     Supports Root Cause & Corrective Action for qualification, design, and manufacturing issues. 
  •     Required to actively support Continuous Improvement initiatives within the Wheel & Brake Centre of Excellence. 
  •     Consults with and seeks guidance from the Lead W&B Engineer, Product Line Expert, Subject Matter Expert and Chief Engineers as required
  •     Will need to be able to travel internationally
Job Specifications

Education / Years' Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university and a minimum of 2 years related experience OR Master’s degree in Engineering with 0 years of experience.

Skills :

  • Experience/Exposure to Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and working knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes
  • Project Management skills (2 years) including cost and schedule tracking
  • Experience/Exposure with Design Failure Mode and Affects (DFMEA) and Risk Analysis
  • Good communication skills – able to make presentations to customers and lead daily discussions with group of engineers, designers and technicians
  • Continuous Improvement training or experience is preferr
