Job Designation

Product Engineering is seeking a highly motivated individual to support Meggitt’s world class delivery initiative through manufacturing technical leadership, improving on time delivery, reducing inventory and arrears. Position focuses on design for manufacturing and test of Electronic assemblies. This person will also evaluate, analyze and make recommendations on products, designs and cost improvements. Strong desire and willingness to document and improve internal processes is required. The position will also involve leading/participating in root cause analysis of failed assemblies or components. Additional responsibilities will include: maintenance of configuration control, engineering change management to ensure engineering requirements are fully communicated and understood, leading/participating in development through commissioning of test equipment as well as maintenance and repair of existing test equipment, develop processes and product standards.


Job Core Responsibilities

  • Complete understanding and wide application of manufacture technical principles, theories and concepts in the field of Electrical Engineering, more specifically Circuit Card Assemblies and Automated Test Equipment to support production manufacturing and test.
  • Support new production and Maintenance Repair and Overhaul with respect to Electronic assemblies and Electronic Test equipment.
  • Manage manufacturing new product introductions through the design, build and sustaining phases.
  • Active contributor in Work Transfers
  • Manage engineering change activity and act as Production Change Board Chairman
  • Support cost requests and Capital Equipment Request(Automated Test Equipment for Brake Control Units) from manufacturing point of view
  • Support APQP process from a policy and procedure aspect as it relates to manufacturing (PFMEA, PFD) and participate in Design Engineering DFMEAs
  • Review/prepare internal department documentation
  • Execute special projects which includes associated policies, procedures, and support documentation
  • Applies knowledge and experience to develop/enhance designs, processes, and tools.
  • Support maintenance to the Component data base
  • Proactively engages with suppliers while building strong working relationships.
  • Focus on completing assigned project to meet technical objectives in budget and on schedule.
  • Develop skills towards receiving MRB (material review board) authority to disposition electronic and electrical assemblies for manufacturing related non-conformances
  • Creates strong network with other senior professionals internally and externally.
  • Candidates must be willing to travel to support our Global Manufacturing Operation

Job Specifications

Education : Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Electrical Engineering Degree preferred.
Years Experience : Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in design or manufacturing engineering or electronics and electrical assemblies. Prefer 1 year experience in Electronics Manufacturing and Test.

Skills :

  • Demonstrated experience implementing process development and improvements
  • Familiarity with circuit board schematics, circuit card design, manufacturing, and test processes
  • Preferred experience with Labview software and other National Instruments data acquisition equipment and motion controls software
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control and six sigma is a plus.
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) & Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) experience is a plus
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication and process document skills.
  • Strong attention to detail. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task while under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and interface with cross-functional disciplines including suppliers, design engineering, quality and procurement; using excellent interpersonal skills to drive tasks to completion
  • Goal oriented with the capability to drive results. Schedule and execute to ensure adherence to business and customer requirements
  • Strong computer skills required. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.    
  • Demonstrated experience with SAP or other ERP system is a plus.
  • Excellent Project Management skills for successful project delivery is desirable.
  • The amount of travel is estimated at 25-50% (primarily domestic and occasional international).
