Job Designation

The Accounting Manager provides expertise in a variety of accounting activities for Parker Meggitt North America including GAAP, SOX, capital expenditure review and budgeting, and accounting – with a focus on Engineering support and reporting / presenting results to management, oversight of fixed assets, AR accounting, and product / performance warranty.  The accounting manager will ensure all deadlines are met, and accounting is accurate.   The manager will approve journal entries, analyze account balances, and provide recommendations for process and operational improvement.

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Responsible for project accounting related to R&D and Engineering activities
•    Analyze, report, and present to upper management various departmental results
•    Responsible for accurate and timely support of department budgets  
•    Manage month end closing for multiple companies – including ownership of intercompany close and accrual processing
•    Work with Customer Program Managers to establish and maintain product and performance warranty reserves
•    Facilitate and manage capital expense workflow for Braking Systems.  Track actual and projected expenditures to budget and monitor approved capital projects to budget.
•    Support a strong internal control environment ensuring SOX development and compliance.  
•     Support of internal and external audits, month end close and intercompany accounting.
•    Maintain working relationship with areas outside of Accounting, collaborating and supporting the business.  
•    Ability to prepare, analyze or review various account reconciliations on a timely basis for multiple entities.
•    Assist with monthly financial consolidations related to subsidiaries in different locations and countries.
•    Other duties as assigned.
•    Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required.  May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor Degree in Accounting
Certifications: CPA preferred 
Years’ Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
•    Experience with an ERP computer system (preferably SAP).
•    Must be highly skilled in the use of Excel spreadsheets and Word.
•    Must be highly analytical in dealing with financial and numerical data.
•    Must be self-motivated with good written and verbal communication skills.
•    Audit experience is helpful – but not required.
•    Independent problem-solving skills to evaluate financial results and explain variances
•    Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize with changing situations 
•    High interpersonal communication and presentation skills required (verbal and written)
•    Ability to build consensus across multiple site functions
•    Willingness to work the hours necessary when important deadlines must to be met.
