Job Designation

The Product Engineering department at Meggitt, Akron, Ohio is seeking a highly motivated individual to be involved in project-based problem solving (including data collection, entry and analysis), assist colleagues with New Program Introductions (NPI) in a production capacity and as a liaison between Design Engineering and the production floor.  The ideal person will work with both suppliers and internal customers on issues relating to new and legacy aerospace components.   

As a Product Engineering Co-op, you will be treated as a self-sufficient entry-level co-op engineer working together with other Product Engineers in Akron and possibly with our Danville, Kentucky or Queretaro, Mexico facility Product Engineers and associates.

After completion of a co-op semester/session in the Product Engineering department, the co-op will be rotated to another engineering department (Wheel & Brake, Testing, Customer Support, etc.) for future sessions, if applicable. The ideal candidate is adaptable to different areas of engineering.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Assist other Product Engineers in support of new product introductions though the design, build and qualification stages.

  • APQP (Advance Product Quality Planning), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) elements including PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis), PFD (process flow diagrams) and Control Plans for new programs as required.

  • Analyze, research and author engineering changes as required.

  • MABS (Meggitt Airframes Braking Systems) production plant support both domestically and international (located in Akron; minimal travel, if any).

  • Review/prepare Product Engineering documentation.

  • Carries out special duties as assigned.

  • Weekly reviews with mentor.

  • Engages in a semester long project with a final presentation to management.

  • Meggitt has a Remote Working Policy that varies per department needs. 

Job Specifications

Education: Currently pursuing Bachelor’s degree (2nd year) or beyond in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (preferred) or a similar technical field.

Years Experience: No previous experience required.

Skills:

  • Exceptional analytical, organizational skills, attention to detail, interpersonal, decision-making, problem solving, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Good technical writing skills capable of communicating to various audiences (some non-technical).
  • Thorough knowledge of PC’s, including proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point. Advanced MS Excel skills are beneficial.
  • Interest in Manufacturing is desirable.
