Job Designation

This position reports to an Engineering Manager. Specific responsibilities include concept development, system level design and analysis, hardware and software system integration, system testing and evaluation, preparation of engineering test procedures, selection of and coordination with subcontractors and vendors, and support of manufacturing by providing solutions to technical problems. The incumbent also supplies inputs for producing equipment technical manuals, writes technical sections of proposals, prepares cost estimates, and prepares contractual statements of work.            

Job Core Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of engineering work crossing multiple technical boundaries (such as electrical, software, mechanical).
  • Assignments may require coordination and guidance of various engineering and related development functions and small projects.
  • Accurately interpret test and analysis results and plan corrective actions accordingly. Collaboratively determine and develop the approach to solutions.
  • Utilize theoretical and practical technical experience to objectively evaluate multiple solutions (or implementations) for a problem or system requirement that adhere to contractual requirements. 
  • Innovate technically sound approaches for the development of new products or product improvements and to fulfill existing contractual requirements.
  • Participates in a variety of hardware engineering assignments, including design, VHDL development, testing, validation and verification.
  • Creates a range of hardware design specifications based on system or product level requirements.
  • Conducts value analysis during the product design phase while optimizing product development costs.
  • Documents and enhances processes for qualification and failure analysis.
  • Applies hardware engineering standards per design specifications.
  • Documents technical requirements, specifications, designs, user guides, work instructions, test plans, procedures and technical reports, as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Job Specifications

Education : Post-secondary degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. 

Years Experience : Minimum 2 years with Bachelor's degree or no expereince required with Master's degree
Skills :

  • Excellent ability to apply a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to explain a range of complex technical information.    
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management tools.
  • Experience with DO-254 Aerospace Complex Electronics Hardware development is a plus.
  • 40+ hours of combined Continuous Improvement experience/training desired.
  • 40+ hours of training in an applicalbe engineering discipline desired.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.
