Job Designation

The Demand Planner position reports to the Demand Planning Manager and is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers and products. The Demand Planner creates and maintains forecast models for their customers and programs, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, customer forecasts and other sources to create views of unconstrained demand in both quantity and currency.   This role is integral to the preparation for the monthly Demand Reviews of Meggitt’s S&OP process.  The Demand Planner closely collaborates with the Master Planning Team to ensure robust demand and supply balancing, as an active participant in demand constriction whenever necessary.   This role also collaborates with the supply teams in establishing proper levels of finished product safety stock to comply with customer contractual requirements and ensure the desired customer service levels. 

Job Core Responsibilities
  • Develops demand operational forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation for the creation of the 18 -24 month global Demand Plan for Braking Systems.
  • Collaborates Sales, Marketing, Program Management, Customer Support Engineering and the Customers, as well as utilizes historical sales trends and researches demand drivers to ensure that current and accurate information is used for the demand forecasts.
  • Documents the assumptions supporting the forecasts, including details around quantities, anticipated delivery timing and pricing.
  • Tracks bookings, compares to forecasts and collaborates with Sales and Contract Administrators to follow-up on missing firm orders.
  • Evaluates forecast results, conducts root cause analysis for out of tolerance forecast errors and identifies methods to continuously improve the demand forecast accuracy. 
  • Uses and maintains the Demand Planning software as the primary forecasting system tool, ensuring correct demand master data.
  • Provides inputs to the Supply Planning organization in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
  • Coordinates and communicates customer action plans in collaboration with the Master Planners.
  • Prepares and maintain relevant reports pertaining to the demand planning process.
Job Specifications

Education: Bachelors' degree with 5 years experience or 8 years experience in Demand Planning in lieu of degree
Certifications: APICS CPIM and/or CSCP preferred


  • Advanced Proficiency of MS Office Tools.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, decision making, and interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Prior key user experience of an ERP system, preferably SAP/HANA.
  • Knowledge of Avercast Business Forecasting or similar demand planning software preferred.
  • Aerospace and/or Repair & Overhaul industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel as required (<25%).
