Job Designation

The Component Engineer 3 has responsible for the overall obsolescence efforts within the Braking Systems business unit. Responsibilities include managing all aspects of part and material obsolescence and the Obsolescence Management Policy defined by the organization. Successful candidate will be a hands-on, active engineering who manages and directs cross-functional teams both locally and remote. A primary responsibility is to develop, implement and continuously improve the standards, policies and procedures for all work performed related to managing electronic part/material obsolescence. Will act as focal point of contact for everything related to electronic components, establish KPIs and track progress.

Job Core Responsibilities

Part approval process, component selection, qualification and standardization:

The scope of parts and materials ranges from purchased assembles, both electrical and mechanical, as well as electrical and mechanical components used in designs and all the associated compounds and accessories used in our designs (fasteners, connectors, seals, thermal pads, grease, gel, glue, thread locker, etc.).
Single point of contact for all communication with components manufacturer within Braking Systems.

Change Management – Engineering Part Change Notification (EPCN) processing:

Analyze the impact of the EPCN contents, with the support of the Design Engineers, all critical information and justification.

Obsolescence Management:

  • Proactive Bill of Material check.
  • Provide report status to customer.
  • Work with supply chain, including suppliers for component management.
  • Maintain and refine the Obsolescence Management Program (OMP).
  • Follow component lifecycle in database and issue preventive actions to avoid future component obsolescence problems.
  • Follow the industry guidelines of IEC 62402:2007.
  • Follow evolution of international standards in this area through literature, conferences and workshops, and implement those in Braking Systems when appropriate.
     

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
Years' Experience: Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in the Aerospace component field; 10+ years preferred.

Skills:

•    Extensive knowledge of Electronic components.
•    Highly organized and detailed oriented with focus on transparency in data and processes
•    Demonstrated experience working and managing teams in a multi-discipline matrix environment
•    Ability to work independently and interface with cross-functional disciplines; using excellent interpersonal skills to drive tasks to completion
•    Ability to direct coworkers, located locally and remote, to achieve results
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence, while exercising sensitivity to the audience
•    Ability to anticipate internal or external business challenges/regulatory issues and make recommendations
•    Familiarity with industry standard tools used in Electronic component searches, such as Silicon Expert, Government - Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP), other Internet search tools
