Job Designation

The purpose of this position is to drive and support development and execution of commodity strategies for the Metal Fabrications commodity to leverage spend and supplier performance improvement across the Division. This position coordinates closely with both Group category managers and site buyers managing large, complex supplier relationships working cross-functionally in accordance with Meggitt policies and processes.

Job Core Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior leaders, cross functional and procurement teams, and suppliers to execute commodity strategies consolidating our supply base, improving supplier performance, and meeting cost/savings and risk targets.
• Assume a leadership role in managing supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness targets are achieved eradicating and/or escalating problems efficiently both internally and externally to minimize impact on our business.
• Ensure Group, Division, and site commodity strategy alignment by developing partnerships with Group commodity management teams, other Division commodity managers, site procurement teams, and site cross-functional resources.
• Conduct large spend category requests for quotation, evaluation, negotiations, contracting, sourcing, and transition activities as directed in order to obtain a full range of products and services from suppliers that meet planned performance targets and Meggitt commodity strategies.
• Establish and execute strategic commodity management goals aligned with Group, Division, site, and company objectives.
• Support the identification, evaluation, and qualification of Division, Group, and site suppliers for assigned commodities aligned with Group and Division commodity strategies.
• Lead cross-function and senior level meetings internally and externally as required to ensure successful resolution of issues.
• Lead and/or support supplier business and performance reviews.
• Support supply base risk management for assigned commodities through supplier consolidation, risk analysis, and supplier performance management.
• Ensure Meggitt compliance, quality, and commercial interests are protected in our supply chain.
• Ensure compliance with government laws and regulations and company policies and processes.
• Carry out other duties as may be required.

Job Specifications

Education : Bachelor’s degree will be required; technical or supply chain degree preferred. 

Years Experience : Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing commodities across multiple sites in a multi-national company.

Skills :

Excellent facilitation and project management skills with ability to lead the procurement team, and to drive tasks to completion

Knowledge of procurement best practices and experience with managing tight development program deadlines in aerospace/manufacturing environment

Understanding of contracts, compliance and government laws (domestic/international) relating to procurement

Excellent problem solving and analytical skills and demonstrated use of thought leadership to set and execute procurement strategies

Experience negotiating license contracts with a track record of success negotiating with a variety of  suppliers

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with ability to drive tasks to completion

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools

Work location may be based in either Ohio or California

Aerospace industry experience desirable

SAP experience a plus

Travel – Estimated 20%
