Job Designation

This position provides engineering support for the development of aircraft brake components utilizing reverse engineering techniques and general design practices.  Additonal responsibilities include supporting development of FAA certification documents.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Develop design of aircraft wheel and brake components
  • Develop design substantiation data utilizing reverse engineering techniques
  • Support dynamometer testing
  • Support development of brake friction components
  • Write Test Plans/Test Reports
  • Provide shop/technical support to manufacturing group
  • Work with manufacturing vendors and outside laboratories
  • Create techincal certification documentation for FAA design approvals

Job Specifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Proficient with computers, e-mail, MS Office including Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Bachelor's in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • Master Degree optional    
  • Two to five years of significant subject matter expertise in aircraft brake development and/or maintenance engineering preferable
  • FAA certification experience preferable
  • Must have strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general engineer periodicals, blue prints, component maintenance manuals and governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information  and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers
  • Mathematical skills concurrent with an engineer education
  • Reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid analytical conclusions
